Self-Publishing Workshop

Sept 26, Saturday, 9:00-4:00 pm, Self-Publishing Workshop, Carlyle Public Library Branch (one hour lunch break). Everyone welcome.

This hands-on interactive workshop will provide insights on what you need to know about the self-publishing process from finishing your manuscript to having a published book ready for distribution. It will include discussion on traditional publishing versus self-publishing and whether to use a self-publishing company, Internet print-on-demand, or do everything on your own. Steps to preparing your work for publication, including formatting, cover and book design, choosing software, a printing company, and what to expect in the printing process, will also be covered. Tips will also be given on marketing, including for specific targets, how to write different bios and prepare for launches and readings. In-class guidance, exercises and discussions will help you explore your options. NB: Though there will not be any specific software training, everyone is welcome to bring their laptops and publishing programs for help with essential elements.
