Q & A

I love answering most questions, and I am asked a great many of them every time I am do presentations with school groups or for other gatherings. Here are some of the popular ones with my answers.

Q: What would you be doing if you weren't a writer?

A: I would have loved to have been a professional photographer, travelling the world and exploring different countries, cultures and meeting people. My secret wish was to work for National Geographic Magazine.

Q: What are your favourite authors?

A: When I was a young child, my mother read the Thornton Burgess books and others to my siblings and me. Later, I when I learned to read, I loved reading books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, and Lucy Maud Montgomery. As I grew older I read all of Agatha Christie's and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's books and lots of other mysteries and historic time travel books such as those by Anya Seton and Mary Stewart.

Q: Who are your favourite books now?

A: I still love mysteries - especially the British ones by M. C. Beaton, Elizabeth George, Dick Francis, Minette Walters, and P.D. James. Another book that stands out in my mind is The Eight by Katherine Neville.

Q: What is your favourite colour?

A: Blue - all shades, like the colours of the changing sky

Q: When did you start writing?

A: By the time, I was ten years old, I was writing little stories, but I've always known I would be a writer. I'm fascinated with words and language.

Q: What is your favourite story to write?

A: Mystery and time slip novels with a little history thrown in are my favourite novels to write.
